Nicole Szarko, CPA is a founding member of Fitzpatrick, Leary & Szarko and is the leader of the firm’s accounting and auditing practice, and the Quality Control Director for the firm. With more than 25 years of public accounting experience, Nicole specializes in accounting and auditing for non-profit organizations, including preparation of nonprofit financial statements and related analysis, preparation of management reports, nonprofit tax returns, assistance with CFO and bookkeeping services, and presentations to management and board members. A large percentage of her nonprofit client base resides in membership organizations, DDA providers, mental health providers, audits under the Uniform Guidance, grant based organizations, private schools, religious organizations, and numerous other societies and charities. Nicole also utilizes her expertise to assist a wide array of clients in providing internal control analysis and design, obtain financing, cash flow forecasting, operational reviews, controllership / CFO duties, agreed upon procedure engagements and various other matters. Nicole received a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Towson University. She is a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
